Wringer is by Jerry Spinelli. Palmer is almost ten and in Waymer all ten year old boys become wringers. Their job at the annual pigeon shoot fund raiser is to wring the necks of injured pigeons. But Palmer doesn't want to be a wringer. He likes pigeons, in fact he has a pigeon of his own. A charming tale of growing up and being brave in the face of peer pressure.
