The Invention of Hugo Cabret

The Invention of Hugo Cabret is by Brian Selznick. A wonderful book in words and incredible drawings. Hugo is a young boy whose father has died. He went to live with his drunk uncle who cleans and repairs the clocks in the train station. When his uncle disappears Hugo must keep the clocks working so no one will discover he is alone and send him to an orphanage. While stealing parts from a toy shop to repair a mechanical man left him by his father, he is caught by the shopkeeper. This sets in motion a series of events that change Hugo's life forever. A magical piece of historical fiction.
