The Cheat is by Amy Goldman Koss. This is a book about six students who are involved in cheating to one degree or another. Each chapter in the book is written from the point of view of a different student. Koss does a really good job of showing us the different perspectives of a typical cross section of middle school kids. The frequent switch in point of view may make this a difficult book for some readers. As a teacher, I find it annoying that while the students have to deal with the consequences of cheating not all of them ever understand why it is wrong.
Ratings: 6th grade - 6 out of 10 - MP (mild profanity).
