The Icebound Land is by John Flanagan. The third book in The Ranger's Apprentice series. Will and Evanlyn have been kidnapped and are on their way to Skandia where they will be sold as slaves. Halt, after being refused permission to rescue Will, gets himself dismissed from the Rangers and sets out with Horace to find both Will and Evanlyn. Can they manage their own adventures and get to Skandia in time to save the young people from a hideous life of slavery?
