The King of Attolia is by Megan Whalen Turner. The third and final book in The Queen's Thief series. Eugenides is now the King of Attolia. He wanted the queen, not the crown, but can he have one without the other? He now finds himself in a web of political intrigue. Costis is a young palace guard. He, like everyone else, dislikes the new king and wishes he was out of the picture. Slowly he discovers the new king is not the fool he thought he was and soon finds himself involved in a corrupt court that is subtle and dangerous. As good as the second book, makes you wish there was a fourth.
